Vocalist Julie Turner has long been a favorite on the Kansas City jazz scene. Her smooth voice has a versatile range and passionate intimacy that pleases all audiences, whether she's interpreting the greats like Cole Porter and George Gershwin, to The Beatles, Norah Jones, or performing her own compositions. Add to that her engaging, magnetic personality, and you will see and hear what makes Julie a hit wherever she performs.

She began singing professionally in her teens and continues to work with the finest musicians in Kansas City and around the region, and works at all the best venues.

Julie sings both with her own group, and has a group with her husband, drummer Tommy Ruskin. They often perform together, and appear at the Majestic Steakhouse on Mondays and Thursdays.

Besides being a featured guest artist with the Kansas City Philharmonic, she has made numerous commercials for radio and television, including the well known Plaza Christmas series, My One and Only. Julie and Tommy have appeared together twice on the cover of KC's JAM magazine.

Their son, Brian Ruskin, is a guitarist and singer living in Kansas City.

In 2003, Julie performed on the special Project Warmth CD, Warming Up Kansas City, helping low-income families stay warm through the winter months.

In the summer of 2006, she and Tommy were a part of Pulitzer Prize winner Dan White's photo exhibit at the American Jazz Museum, featuring dozens of the most legendary pillars of Kansas City Jazz
